A Faith-Informed Self-Assessment

Is My Drinking Healthy?

A private, confidential drinking self-assessment β€” for individuals and pastoral conversations.

Prepare Screen Reflect Results Resources

Welcome to the Drinking Self-Assessment

This drinking self-assessment walks you through three steps. Here's what to expect:

STEP 1 — PREPARE
Clarify definitions so the screening reflects your actual drinking accurately
STEP 2 — EXAMINE
10-question screening + three spiritual reflection questions
STEP 3 — WALK FORWARD
Your results, how you compare, and resources for wherever you are

πŸ”’ Everything is private. Nothing you enter is saved, stored, or seen by anyone.

Clarify the Definitions

Before the screening, it helps to get on the same page about labels. The most important: what counts as a standard drink. Many people underestimate how much they drink because serving sizes are often larger than they realize. Taking a moment here will make your screening results more accurate.

Each of the following contains the same amount of pure alcohol β€” about 0.6 oz (14 grams).

🍺
Regular Beer
12 oz Β· 5% ABV
🍻
Malt Liquor
8–9 oz Β· 7% ABV
🍷
Table Wine
5 oz Β· 12% ABV
πŸ₯ƒ
Spirits / Shot
1.5 oz Β· 40% ABV

⚠️ Craft beers, large wine pours, and mixed drinks often contain 1.5–3 standard drinks each.

Before the Screening

The next step is a 10-question screening called the AUDIT β€” a widely used tool for identifying patterns of alcohol use. It is used by healthcare providers worldwide. Your responses are completely private and are never saved or submitted anywhere.

Please select your gender below β€” it affects how your score is interpreted.

The following 10 questions comprise the AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test), a WHO-approved instrument in the public domain.

Check Your Drinking

Answer all 10 questions as honestly as you can. There are no right or wrong answers β€” only accurate and inaccurate ones. Your responses stay entirely private.

πŸ”’ Nothing you enter here is saved, stored, or seen by anyone.

Faith & Your Drinking

These questions are not scored. They are an invitation to honest reflection β€” before God and, if you choose, in conversation with your pastor. There are no wrong answers here, only honest ones.

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." β€” 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

Low-Risk Drinking Guidelines

The U.S. Dietary Guidelines define moderate, lower-risk drinking as:

Women
≀ 1 drink/day
Up to 7 per week
Men
≀ 2 drinks/day
Up to 14 per week

These are upper limits β€” not targets. Less is always better. Some people should not drink at all, including those who are pregnant or take certain medications.

Binge Drinking Defined

Women β€” Binge
4+ drinks
Within about 2 hours
Men β€” Binge
5+ drinks
Within about 2 hours

Binge drinking significantly raises the risk of injury, illness, and dependence β€” even if it doesn't happen every day.

✝️ Your Spiritual Reflection

The following questions were developed by Resilient Recovery Ministries and are not part of the AUDIT.

Here are the results of the three spiritual questions. No app can provide you with meaningful spiritual advice or guidance. Your situation is too unique, and your spiritual health is too important to let an app have a say. Your responses here are best used as a discussion starter for you and your pastor.
